Family Budget Privacy Policy
Family Budget is published by LilGenius Labs. This Privacy Policy explains how Family Budget handles information when you use the app.
Summary
Family Budget can be used in free local mode without creating an account. In local mode, your household budget and expense data stays on your device and is not sent to LilGenius Labs.
The app also includes an optional sign-in path for family cloud sync. If you choose to sign in, account and budget data may be sent to our backend service provider so the app can provide account, sync, and sharing features.
Family Budget Plus may also offer an optional AI Budget Coach. The Coach is off for free local mode and uses only server-authorized household data for signed-in Plus households.
Information handled by the app
Free local mode
If you choose free local mode, the app stores the following information on your device only:
- Household name
- Budget category names and budget amounts
- Expense amounts, dates, categories, and optional remarks
- App mode/settings needed for the app to work
This local data is stored on your device using Android encrypted storage. It is not transmitted to LilGenius Labs in free local mode.
Optional cloud sign-in mode
If you choose to sign in for cloud sync, the app may process:
- Email address
- Authentication user ID and session tokens
- Household name
- Budget category names and budget amounts
- Expense amounts, dates, categories, and optional remarks
- Household invitation email addresses, if you invite another household member
This data is used only to provide app functionality such as account access, household budgets, expense tracking, and optional family sharing/cloud sync.
Optional AI Budget Coach
The AI Budget Coach provides general budgeting explanations. It does not make financial decisions for you and is not financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, or other professional advice.
When a signed-in Plus household uses the Coach, the default data mode sends only the household's family profile, aggregate budget totals, expense totals, and category trends. Monetary facts, projections, and what-if figures are calculated by Family Budget before the AI explains them.
A household may choose to allow full transaction details, including transaction amounts, dates, categories, and optional remarks, only after a clear opt-in and unanimous consent from every current household member. Each member controls only their own consent decision.
If any member rejects or revokes consent, consent expires, the consent policy changes, or household membership changes, the Coach automatically falls back to aggregate mode. A client app cannot elevate the household to full-transaction mode by itself.
Authorized Coach context is processed through LilGenius Labs infrastructure and Amazon Web Services, including Amazon Bedrock, using an Australia geographic inference configuration. Supabase provides authentication and the household database. LilGenius Labs does not place transaction snapshots or AI prompts in application logs. Generated Coach responses and metadata may be stored or cached to provide the feature, enforce household limits, investigate failures, and prevent duplicate generation.
You can change the household's AI data preference, accept or revoke your own consent, or stop using the Coach at any time. Revocation affects future AI requests and causes aggregate fallback; it does not change budget data already stored for cloud sync.
Permissions
Family Budget requests internet access so optional cloud sign-in and sync features can communicate with the backend. Free local mode can be used without signing in.
Ads and analytics
Family Budget does not contain ads. The current app does not include third-party advertising SDKs or analytics SDKs.
Sharing of information
LilGenius Labs does not sell your personal information and does not share it for advertising.
If you use optional cloud or AI features, data may be processed by backend infrastructure providers that help operate the app, including Supabase and Amazon Web Services. These providers process data only to provide, secure, and operate the app service.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the app.
Security
Family Budget uses HTTPS for network communication and Android encrypted storage for local sensitive app data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we use reasonable safeguards appropriate for a lightweight household budgeting app.
Data deletion
In free local mode, you can delete local app data inside the app from Settings by choosing Delete Local Data. You can also remove app data by uninstalling the app or clearing the app's storage from Android settings.
For optional cloud/account deletion, use the public Family Budget deletion request pages below. Please contact us from the email address associated with your Family Budget account so we can identify the account or cloud data to delete.
Children
Family Budget is not designed for children and is intended for adults managing household budgets.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the policy date and publish the updated version.
